Is it painful to lose your “integrity”?

Does it hurt losing your “integrity”?

A young man who, at 19 years of age, saw “integrity” as a value to live by, came to realise, in time, that this value did not need to be worn on his sleeve, for all to see. Unfortunately, he'd had it tattooed on his forearm when he thought it should be!

This well-spoken young man attended our clinic to see if we could help him lose his “integrity”.

I conducted a consultation with him, and a treatment plan was proposed.

“Is losing my integrity going to hurt?”, he asked me.

We discussed pain relief options to limit the discomfort associated with treatment, which at that time used the Q-Switched laser. My patient chose to have local anaesthetic injections for his treatments.

With advances in the world of laser technology, we saw the arrival of a picosecond laser to our shores, and our clinic was the first in Sydney to use the new Picousre™ laser. For this patient, losing his “integrity” was now going to be a much less painful experience!

When I told him of our new Picosure™ laser, and that his discomfort could be managed with cold air, he looked at me a little sceptically.

To his relief, the continued fading of his ink was managed with cold air during his treatments with the Picosure™ laser, along with requiring a lesser number of treatments than planned with the older Q-Switched laser to ultimately remove his “integrity”.

The results for this patient were fantastic, and his story was later featured in the May 2015 issue of Men's Health Magazine.

Liquid Facelift

Did you known filler can be placed in the cheeks to revolumise the cheeks and help lift up a sagging mid and lower face?  As we age our cheeks can become flatter as we lose fat from our cheeks. By judicious use of temporary fillers made from hyaluronic acid we can help to give you back the fuller cheeks of youth. Filler is placed in the cheeks in one of two ways, firstly filler can be injected into the cheeks, and secondly a cannula can be used to place the filler in the cheeks. You will get the best result from the filler after one month as the filler works like a sponge and gradually absorbs water.  If this is a procedure you may be interested in please book a consultation to discuss filler.

Excess sweating under the arms

Excessive underarm sweating (known as hyperhidrosis ) is a very common condition which for many people can cause embarrassment and social discomfort.
There are a number of different ways of managing this condition including topical therapy including antiperspirants, botulinum toxin injections and surgery.
Patients who suffer from excessive underarm sweating may now be eligible to receive a Medicare rebate for treatment with botulinum toxin.  Once injected the toxin blocks the release of a chemical that initiates the sweating.

The Big Switch

A great result for one of our patients, Bec - she had 10 treatments previously with the Q-Switched laser.  We changed to the Picosure tattoo removal laser and after only 3 treatments they have virtually gone.

Tattoo Removal
Winter is an ideal time to start removing an unwanted tattoo for two reasons. Firstly, we are more likely to have paler skin with no tan which means that higher energy levels can be used safely with the tattoo removal laser. Secondly, it is much easier to hide a recently treated tattoo in winter because of the need to wear more clothing to keep warm. If you are interested in starting your tattoo removal journey please phone 99539522 to book a complimentary tattoo removal consult with either Kim Murphy RN or Dr Marianne Nolan.
